  1. What is the name of your local council area (city)?
  2. Write down the address of your council offices.
  3. What is the name of your mayor + what party does your mayor belong to? (include photo)
  4. In what WARD do you live?
  5. Who is the councillor who is currently representing your ward? (Give name + party) (include photo)
  6. Identify some by-laws (or local laws) in your council area.
  7. Research news events or policies in which your local councilor is involved or has been involved.
  8. When are the next council elections?
  9. Is voting in council elections compuslory? (Victorian Electoral Commission)
  10. What happens when you fail to vote in a council election?

Home work: Read national, state or local newspapers. Cut out ONE article which relates to politics on either federal, state or local level. Bring it in to class. Make sure you write down the paper and the day of the article.
